I apologize for the delayed posting. Despite the fact that there was a nasty ice storm, I was out riding my Tauntaun around Patterson Park when I was captured by a Wampa ice creature and hung upside down by my ankles in his ice cave. Luckily I was able to summon the force to grab my light saber, cut off the Wampa’s arm and escape.
Speaking of Wampas, the always terrible Gov. DeSantis has successfully bullied the College Board into erasing Black history. So, you know, props. A new AP course in African American Studies for high school students has been stripped of basically anything that mentions Black people.
Instead, the course will focus on white people and racism and how people are racist against white people. And Christians. Never forget the War Against Christians and the carnage left in their holy path.
(Incidentally I remember taking a couple AP courses in high school, which got me absolutely nowhere. One was called world civilization and to this day I have no idea what was in that curriculum. I just remember the teacher coming to class one day wearing two different shoes. I stopped listening after that.)
One change in the overturned state curriculum promotes “Black conservatism” over the previous Black Lives Matter movement so if you’re looking for a topic for your research project, Clarence Thomas would be perfect.
Apparently DeSantis has successfully argued that the course not only violates state law, it “lacks educational value.” Right? The history of the civil rights era and its indelible impact on society is so yesterday. But we all know what this is really about. Indoctrination. Woke indoctrination. Woke indoctrination disguised as critical race theory disguised as politics.
I actually have no idea what “woke” is supposed to mean and why it’s a bad thing. Wouldn’t you rather be “woke” than “sleepwalking through history”? (Haynes Johnson reference. He was once my mentor until he realized I had no talent.)
Meanwhile in Texas (yes, every sentence that starts with that phrase will be followed by embarrassment), state legislators are trying to ban critical race theory from public universities. The bill is being spearheaded by Palestine’s finest, Rep. Cody Harris, which would take away state funds from universities that teach critical race theory.
CRT has already been banned from K-12 public schools but apparently college students are just as stupid. I mean, we can’t even trust them with TikTok. The bill’s language stipulates that universities may not teach that “an individual, by virtue of the individual’s race or sex, is not inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously.”
Is this language supposed to make any sense? Because it doesn’t. It doesn’t make any more sense if you read it more than once. I even held it up to a mirror to see if it would help to read it backwards.
Didn’t work.
